How do you usually spend your Sundays?

Sunday stands for rest, but I like the exact opposite. On Sundays, I want to be among people and take different paths than usual. For me, Sunday is a day where I can just drift, and because of that, I am terribly non-committal when making plans so that I can stay sitting under a tree if I like it there, or stare at the water for as long as the daylight reflects beautifully in it. On Sundays, I don't want to have to go anywhere, but rather be free and experience where the day takes me.

Your favorite Sunday shoe? And why?

I was once lost in thought in front of some old vases at a yard sale in Munich when a stranger approached me and said that my outfit was perfect for anywhere, day or night. I was wearing slightly loose corduroy pants, a white shirt, and loafers. The man then said he had adopted this look from his father, though he was standing there in full functional gear, which made us laugh. Suddenly, we felt connected and started thinking about our fathers. The downside of the dad look is perhaps coming across as too old-fashioned. That’s when you wear the loafers with thick white tennis socks.

When and how did you first come into contact with the Unützer brand?

Perhaps it was also a Sunday walk, about eight years ago, I don't remember exactly, because Munich is a Sunday city in general; in any case, I stumbled into a conversation with Fritz Unützer by chance and was inspired by his way of redirecting the company's tradition in his very own style. At that time, Fritz had just had an initial sneaker collection made in Italy and, at the same time, expressed a great deal of appreciation for the classic craft of shoemaking. A few days after we met, I asked my mother in Hamburg if she knew Unützer. "Yes, of course," she said, "Unützer is a very special shoe. Flat, but very elegant."

Your three favorite places for a Sunday stroll? Or where do you plan a stop during your walk?

I love going for walks on Sundays. Everything is a little slower and different, and you can carry a newspaper under your arm that you don't even have to read. In Munich, my favorite walk is along the Isar, the stretch between Flaucher and Großhesseloher Bridge. In Hamburg, I enjoy being by the Elbe between Övelgönne and Teufelsbrück on Sundays. In Berlin, the walk is actually always a search for a good restaurant that is also open on Sunday afternoons.
